Plan your garden, then garden your plan!

Simple, effective and easy to follow advice for a better edible garden here in 2014. In my years of edible gardening I have always made progress from season to season. Small, measured progress…

A couple of years ago I made a giant leap of progress by doing one simple thing. Yes, visually planning our gardens and then following the plans helped me to grow our best edible gardens ever. I say “our” because I was not alone. Each person in our home got to be a part of the process. Our two children even had their own garden diagrams to plan. Both kids have manageable 2′ x 4′ raised bed gardens.

The picture on the right is an image from my upcoming edible gardening workbook. It is in the final editing process and will go on sale soon. In the meantime, you can consider this picture to be a bit of free advice. Now is the perfect time to get planning. Just remember to stick to the plan and take notes on what worked, what did not, and what you would do differently next time.

Happy planning and happy gardening!
